I love the desert: the ancient is present and powerful. My Desert Glass collection currently includes Spirit Places, Spirit Mountain, and Stone Spirits pieces. Painted Desert pieces are available by special order.
Painted Desert
The Painted Desert series is about the areas in northern Arizona where the rocks & hills change color as if by magic at dawn and dusk. The Painted Desert pieces come in First Light, Hot Sun, and Midnight colors.
Spirit Places
The Spirit Places pieces have a small dark area in the center that looks like a tiny door into a mysterious dwelling — a Spirit Place — somewhere deep in the desert. The dark area is actually a technical artifact of the high-tech dichroic coating process. It's where a metal clip which held the hot glass in place at the top of the vacuum chamber masked the glass beneath it from the vaporized metallic oxides while the dichroic coating was being applied. I really like it that such a high-tech process leaves such an ancient-looking footprint.
Stone Spirits
Stone Spirits are kiln-fired glass on agate, and come framed or with small easels. A limited number of Stone Spirit pins are sometimes available.
